SABAH Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal will tomorrow issue a statement regarding Bersatu’s plans to enter the state.

The Warisan president told reporters this after closing a convention organised by the Sabah Community Development Leadership Unit of the Chief Minister’s Department at the Tawau Sports Complex hall today.

“About that (Bersatu), I will issue a statement in Kota Kinabalu tomorrow, when all media outlets are there.

“If I do it here (Tawau), it would be unfair to those who are not present.”

Shafie will attend an awards ceremony organised by police at the state assembly banquet hall tomorrow morning.

On Friday, Prime Minister and Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that the party will set up shop in Sabah.

Former Sabah Umno liaison chief Hajiji Mohd Noor has confirmed that five MPs and eight assemblymen who quit the party last December have submitted applications to join Bersatu, and Beluran MP Ronald Kiandee said about 100,000 former Umno members are ready to come on board the Pakatan Harapan component.

Shafie previously asked Bersatu to keep its word on not setting up a Sabah chapter, as per the “brotherly agreement” made with Warisan before the 14th general election. – February 17, 2019.
