DEPUTY Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail says she has not heard of any plans for a cabinet reshuffle after Chinese New Year, or that she will be replaced by Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Dr Wan Azizah said she has not heard Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad suggest such things.

“I haven’t heard anything like that. No such thing. You have to ask the prime minister but I have not heard anything,” she said after attending the Chinese New Year celebration at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall today.

Yesterday, Utusan Malaysia had cited a blog as saying that Dr Mahathir had agreed to replace Dr Wan Azizah with Azmin as deputy prime minister.

The blog, Anotherbrickinthewall, had said this would take place after the Chinese New Year holidays, without substantiating the claim.

Azmin was recently appointed Kelantan State Action Council chairman.

He was elected PKR deputy president last year defeating Rafizi Ramli, who is strongly allied to party president Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar won the party’s presidency uncontested.

It has been reported that ties between PKR’s top two had gone south after Anwar took over the presidency. – February 5, 2019.
