THE 50 Malaysians in the flood-ravaged coastal city of Townsville in Queensland, Australia, are reported to be safe.

Wisma Putra, in a statement yesterday, said the situation in the area remains high risk, with heavy rains forecast to continue over the next few days.

It said Malaysians visiting or living in the area are advised to exercise caution and monitor local news and weather reports.

“Wisma Putra, through the Malaysian High Commission in Canberra and Malaysian Consulate in Sydney, will continue to monitor the situation, and will be in close contact with local authorities for the latest updates.”
