THE Singaporean transport minister will be in Malaysia this month for technical discussions on the countries’ airspace dispute, said Anthony Loke.

The transport minister said negotiations on the Seletar Airport issue will continue when his Singaporean counterpart visits Kuala Lumpur for a fourth meeting between the two.

“We hope to resolve the problem regarding Seletar Airport as soon as possible. I do not want to make presumptive announcements,” he said after launching the 21st Petronas Coffee Break campaign in Serdang today.

Last week, Loke and Khaw Boon Wan agreed on a “way forward” to resolve the airspace row, sparking hopes that the two-month stalemate will end soon.

Malaysia is of the view that the new instrument landing procedures at Singapore’s Seletar Airport will hamper the construction of skyscrapers in Johor’s Pasir Gudang, located north of the airport.

Singapore has disputed the claim. – February 1, 2019.
