INVESTIGATIONS into the murder of Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan are set to pick up steam again after police said they will soon release results of the second post-mortem.

“It should be out soon, very soon,” a police source told The Malaysian Insight.

Nazrin’s family were also told that the report is ready soon.

“We were told that the autopsy report will be ready very soon. The police informed us about 10 days ago,” a member of Nazrin’s family said.

The family member, however, added that they are planning to meet police after the Chinese New Year holidays.

“We need to know the status of the investigation,” she told The Malaysian Insight.

Investigations ground to a halt more than three months ago after Nazrin’s family lodged a police report alleging that the first post-mortem was flawed.

Nazrin was found dead in his bedroom, which caught fire, in Mutiara Damansara on June 14, a day before Hari Raya.

His family said the phone exploded, causing the blaze. Cradle Fund also issued a statement saying its CEO died of injuries caused by an exploding handphone being charged next to his bed.

Police later reclassified the case as murder after traces of petrol were found on the body.

In the course of the investigations, police arrested Nazrin’s widow, Samirah Muzaffar, her two teenage sons from a previous marriage, her former husband, her sister and brother-in-law as well. All have since been released on bail. – January 30, 2019.
