PKR will take Pakatan Harapan’s loss in the Cameron Highlands by-election as a reminder to be sensitive towards the people’s concerns about the economy, party president Anwar Ibrahim has said.

“The results are a reminder to the PKR leadership and PH as well that we need to be sensitive to the people’s concerns about the economy and cost of living.

“We also need to strive harder to fulfil our 14th general election manifesto and overcome all problems arising from racial and religious issues with wisdom for the benefit of all,” Anwar said in a statement today.

Anwar said PKR accepted the results of the Cameron Highlands by-election and congratulated Barisan Nasional’s Ramli Mohd Nor for winning the parliamentary constituency.

Ramli yesterday won the seat with 12,038 votes over his main rival from PH, M. Manogaran, who won 8,800 votes in a four-cornered race that included two independents. – January 27, 2019.

  • PMIW response to real issues of economy and job creation is a few lines of ho-hum rhetorics.

  • At least AI is bold enough to accept the frustrations Rakyat is facing from the weaknesses of PH government. Only with sincere acknowledgement then a leader knows what to address. No point for self denial.

  • It has taken far too long to resolve the foreign labour problem causing tremendous increase in labour salary and shortage of workers. I believe its also bring down GDP for 2018. Kindly solve the labour shortage without further delay.

  • This by-election was lost not due to poor economy, it is largely due to people's susceptibility to lies about race and religion. PH must make people more informed of true values in national harmony and and the way to bring progress for the nation, and curb the devilish rhetorics before losing even bigger in the next election.
