THE Pakatan Harapan Jelai machinery have made a police report on racially provocative flyers found at the Sg Koyan 1 mosque.

PH’s Jelai programme coordinator Young Syefura Othman said that the flyers were found this morning by Kg Keledek Bersatu division chief Amini Kashfi at 6.50am.

“The flyers shows PH candidate M. Manogaran and the late Adib with the words ‘DAP Hindu/Hindraf killed Adib’ with the DAP logo overturned,” Syefura  said at a press conference at the PH operations centre in Sg Koyan 3.

Syefura said that the flyers were racially provocative and urged the Election Commission and the police to take action against the perpetrators.

“PH firmly rejects the incitement of racial sentiment amongst the people of Jelai.

“We also urge the Election Commission to take this seriously and to investigate this issue that violates Section 9 of the Election Offences Act 1954 by touching religious sensitivities,” she said.

The Ketari MP said that while all Malaysians wanted to see justice done for the death of Muhammad Adib Kassim, these provocations hit below the belt.

“We also want to see justice served to the late Adib, and hope that those at fault will be punished according to the law.

“However, we do not agree with the campaigning methods by other parties, who racially incite like this and expect us to turn a blind eye,” she said.

She said the fake news on flyers saying Manogaran is a member of Hindraf and connecting him with the death of Adib was expected as the campaign headed into its last two days.

“I am sure there will be all sorts of provocations between races and people over the next two days,  especially in Jelai where most people are Malay.

“I hope the people of Jelai are not swayed by racial provocations and see that this issue shames us as Muslims,” she said.

The racially charged flyers are aimed at provoking locals against voting for an Indian candidate due to the death of Adib on December 17.

Adib died after sustaining injuries in the field of duty during the riots at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple in November.

An inquest into the death of Adib started on January 18. – January 24, 2019.
