AS the Cameron Highlands by-election edges closer, Pakatan Harapan candidate M. Manogaran has accused Barisan Nasional of using racial issues in their campaign to turn voters away from PH.

The lawyer said that BN had spoken about his race at its campaign events, which he said was very disheartening.

“They told people not to vote for me because I am an Indian,” he said at a ceramah in Tanah Rata.

Manogaran, who is contesting the Cameron Highlands seat again after the election court nullified the GE14 result, said he was here for a fair battle and respected all the others contesting in this by-election.

He said that this by-election was not about race or religion, but was a battle between PH and BN.

“I don’t want racial issues to be raised because I want to be a member of parliament for the entire community of Cameron Highlands.

“We are a nation that encourages harmony and unity, so don’t break it,” he told the 500 people who turned up for the ceramah.

Manogaran said that this by-election should focus on Cameron Highlands’ development as there were many issues to be addressed, and he pledged to resolve them one by one if he was voted in as MP.

“The issues cannot be resolved overnight, but surely they can be resolved over time with the help of the people of Cameron Highlands,” Manogaran said today. – January 23, 2019.
