BANK Simpanan Nasional’s (BSN) core system was hit by a major disruption at 6.10am on Saturday, affecting operations at all branches and automated banking channels, said chairman Abu Bakar Abdullah.

However, BSN credit card facilities remain in operation.

Abu Bakar, in a statement today, said BSN has identified the sources of the disruption and is in the midst of resolving the matter.

He said the bank is taking the necessary steps to ensure the integrity of the system before resuming operations.

“While we are attending to the disruption issue, we are ready to serve our customers.

“Starting January 21, we are providing services on selected manual mode at our branches, allowing limited cash withdrawals of RM500 per day for employees of the accountant-general and government pensioners, and RM200 per day for students with BSN accounts.”

He said the bank apologises for the inconvenience caused, and appreciates customers’ patience and support.

BSN is working to restore operations as soon as possible, he added.

“We assure all our customers that their savings and deposits remain safe and protected.

“All banking products and services will be accessible in stages once the system resumes operations.” – Bernama, January 21, 2019.
