Gymnast Amy Kwan delivers Malaysia’s 100th Sea Games gold

RHYTMIC gymnast Amy Kwan delivered Malaysia’s 100th gold medal for the 29th Sea Games today, as the host nation inches closer to its 111-medal target.

It was a 1-2 finish for Malaysia at the individual ribbon apparatus, when Kwan scored 15.75 points to emerge champion, while Koi Sie Yan got silver with 14.7 points. Thailand’s Panjarat Prawatyotin settled for bronze with 13.7 points. The event was held at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

With the 100th gold and two days of competition left, Malaysia is on track to achieve its gold-medal target.

At 1pm today, Malaysia is leading the medal standings with 100 gold. Thailand is a distant second with 54 gold, while third-placed Vietnam is snapping at their heels with 53. – August 28, 2017.
