POLICE have arrested 6,197 individuals for drug-related offences in the first 10 days of the year, said Inspector General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
He said the value of drugs seized from the suspects have reached RM1.9 million.
“Of those more than 6,000 individuals, 5,807 are locals and 390 are foreign nationals. The arrests were made from January 1 to January 10 this year.
“The value of drugs seized reached RM1.9 million so far. We seized 11kg of methamphetamine, 4kg of Ketamine, 0.22kg of Eramine 5, 1.9kg of Yaba pills, 4kg of ecstasy.
“As for traditional drugs, we have taken 2.5kg of marijuana and 13kg of heroin,” Fuzi said in a press conference at Bukit Aman today.
An even bigger haul of methamphetamine was made after the 10 day period on Saturday in Perak, where 569kg with a street value of RM28.47 million was found.
Fuzi said three men, aged 39 to 49, were arrested in the operation.
“We uncovered 569kg of methamphetamine from the syndicate and the amount is RM28.47 million. Also seized were two vehicles and cash RM1,768,” Fuzi said. – January 14, 2019.
