THE police have raided the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) office as part of ongoing investigations into the misappropriation of funds and abuse of power, said sources.

They said several HRDF staff members at its Damansara Heights office have also been questioned.

The police probe follows the disclosure by Human Resources Minister M. Kula Segaran in November that high-ranking HRDF personnel allegedly misappropriated about RM100 million of RM300 million in the fund.

The ministry had then set up a five-member independent governance oversight committee (GOC) to review and probe the allegations.

Brickfields police district deputy chief Arifai Tarawe confirmed the raid, adding his team was checking documents at the HDRF office.

“The raid is a follow-up to an investigation by our Commercial Crime Investigation Department,” he told The Malaysian Insight. – January 11, 2019.
