Johor sultan drives Dr Mahathir to Senai airport in Proton Saga

DR Mahathir Mohamad’s meeting with Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar ended at 5.25pm today, with the ruler himself driving the prime minister to Senai airport for Dr Mahathir to return to Kuala Lumpur.

Dr Mahathir’s press secretary, Endie Shazlie Akhbar, said Sultan Ibrahim drove the prime minister in a blue Proton Saga.

The vehicle was a gift to Sultan Ibrahim’s father, Sultan Iskandar, by the federal government headed by Dr Mahathir in 1985. Sultan Iskandar was Agong then.

Dr Mahathir had earlier arrived at Istana Bukit Serene in Johor Baru at 3.57pm for his meeting with the sultan of Johor.

The prime minister was driven straight to the place as soon as he landed at the airport about 30 minutes earlier.

Dr Mahathir had said that his audience with Sultan Ibrahim was a normal meeting and had nothing to do with the meeting of Malay rulers to elect the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong after Sultan Muhammad V abdicated on Sunday. – January 10, 2019.
