Inquest will give better understanding of Adib’s death, says Zuraida

AN inquest will give a clearer picture of the cause of death for fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, said Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

She said such information would also  help ensure justice for Adib’s family.

“The Fire and Rescue Department and I agree with the call for an inquest as it will allow us to find out exactly what happened during the riot.

“It will help us determine the real cause of Adib’s death. We will have forensic experts and doctors who had treated him giving evidence at the inquest,” she said after presenting financial contributions to Adib’s family today.

The minister said the inquest would enable new witnesses to testify and give new information.

Yesterday Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the attorney-general would be ordering an inquest to determine Adib’s death after the post-mortem uncovered a” few clues”.

The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Malaysia (PPMM) had objected to an inquest, however, saying it would delay justice, adding that Adib’s death was already under police investigation as murder.

Zuraida today said the Home Ministry had decided there would be an inquest.

“So let it be. Let the inquest determine the outcome,” she said.

Adib, 24, was a member of the Emergency Medical Rescue Services at the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue station.

He died at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur on December 17 after he was allegedly assaulted by a mob during a riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya, Selangor, on November 27. – December 28, 2018.

  • Better understanding? Justice?
    Really?
So how come Teoh Beng Hock or Raymond Kohs family have yet to see justice, despite such inquests?
