THE cause of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s death will only be known next month once the final report is ready, said Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye.

The wait is due to the outcome of Adib’s blood test, he said, which is necessary to complete the final report.

“Normally a blood test will take about one month. In the US, the report for the deaths of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson also took time.

“Pathologist knows the cause of death but the blood test would corroborate the finding,” he was reported as saying in Ipoh today.

Last week, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the full forensic report on Adib’s death will be released by the police in a few days.

He said he had been briefed by Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun on developments of the investigation.

“For now, I leave it to the doctors and police to complete the report. The police will release the report in the next few days,” he said.

The ministry would also consider making the report public should the need arise.

Adib, 24, was a member of the Emergency Medical Rescue Services of the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station.

He died at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur at 9.41pm on December 17 after he was believed to have been assaulted during rioting at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya, Selangor, on November 27. – December 26, 2018.
