ACTIVISTS are increasingly worried for the safety of the transgender community following the case of a 32-year-old transgender beaten to death recently and have urged the government to step up protection of them.

Last week, the victim was beaten and left for dead outside a hotel in Klang, Selangor, after she was accused of stealing a handphone.
