Police reclassify Adib’s case as murder

THE case of the assault on fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim has been reclassified as murder, Selangor deputy police chief Rashid Ab Wahab said.

He said in a statement yesterday night that the case would now be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The case was previously classified as attempted murder.

Adib, 24, who suffered serious injuries in the riot incident at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya last month, died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 9.41pm yesterday.

In the November 27 incident, Adib, of the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department, was seriously injured after he was assaulted by a mob when he was deployed to put out a fire in front of the temple.

He was admitted to a private clinic in Subang Jaya before being transferred to IJN the same day. – Bernama, December 18, 2018.
