YOUTH and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has apologised for the erroneous depiction of the Indonesian flag the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games 2017 booklet.

The Indonesian flag appears the wrong side up in the commemorative booklet.

Khairy said the error was unintentional in an apology to his Indonesian counterpart.

“Bapak Imam, please accept my sincere apologies for this. There was no malice. I very much regret that this mistake happened. My apologies,” he tweeted back at Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, who had commented on the error.

The Malaysia Sea Games Organising Committee (Masoc), in a statement to Bernama, apologised to all Indonesians for the error.

It said Khairy, who is Masoc chairman, would call on Imam Nahrawi today to personally apologise on behalf of the committee.

“We truly regret this error and we hope that the close ties between the two countries will be further enhanced in the spirit of the Sea Games,” the statement said. – August 20, 2017.
