COMMUTERS may register for the My100 and My50 using their MyKad, MyTentera and MyKid identification cards, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.

The My100 and My50 are unlimited passes to public transport services in the Klang Valley.

“The unlimited pass is to encourage the public to travel with public transport, and to reduce the cost of everyday living.” Loke said.

The new system will be implemented in all LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT and Rapid bus systems starting January 1.

The My100 monthly pass costs RM100 and is good for an unlimited number of rides on these services.

The My50 pass costs RM50 for unlimited access to Rapid bus services in the Klang Valley.

Subscriptions can be made at all LRT and MRT stations and four bus stations in Shah Alam,  Greenwood, Seri Nilam and Kajang terminal, said Loke.

Thereafter, the passes may be reloaded monthly at Touch ‘n Go kiosks, petrol stations and ATMs

Loke said the passes were expected to benefit “at least 45% Rapid rail users and 100% Rapid bus users”.

He said the government was aiming for a minimum 200,000 registrations to lower subsidy costs.

“We have a minimum threshold of 120,000, but once it goes up to 200,000 subscriptions, with a higher ridership, then the subsidy for all transport for 2019 can be reduced.

The initiative is expected to be extended to other cities where Rapid bus services are available, starting with Penang and Kuantan, and followed by Kota Kinabalu and Johor Baru. – December 1, 2018.
