THREE Joint Management Bodies at One City have distanced themselves from One City Development Berhad which has been linked to the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple fracas.
Their spokesman Chong Li Loh said that their premises were attacked because people mistook them as having links with One City Development Berhad.
“We are the victims here. We have no ties with them (One City Development Berhad).”
On Tuesday, a group of men vandalised the MCT Tower in Subang Jaya, Selangor where the office of One City Development Sdn Bhd office is located.
“We would like to clarify that they are only a tenant here. People have misunderstood us because of the logo and the name,” Chong told reporters at Skypark Subang today.
“It’s just not financial loss but loss of business and image being sabotaged.”
The mob shattered the glass doors on the ground floor and burnt a van.
Police and the Federal Reserve Unit prevented them from causing further damage.
The three JMBs at One City includes Skypark, The Place and The Square.
Chong said that One City at USJ 25 is a mix development which is owned by 939 individual owners and not MCT Berhad or One City Development Berhad.
He said the owner of the land on which the temple is located is One City Development Berhad and that the JMBs are not related to this company.
“We are two separate entities. With all the issues happening we feel sad.”
Chong said there was significant damage to their premises and that their consultants are currently assessing the cost of the damage.
“We don’t have an actual figure, yet.
“We will also have to consult our legal advisers on the matter.”
Chong also said that they have not contacted One City Development Berhad and neither has the firm contacted them. – November 29, 2018.
