SELANGOR Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has called for a meeting of the state’s security council to restore order following two nights of violence over the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple that has seen property damaged and a uniformed serviceman attacked.
“My main priority is to restore safety and order. This meeting of the state security council will discuss immediate steps to restore public safety and order,” he told reporters at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) lobby today.
Amirudin had visited fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, 24, who was attacked by a mob at the temple when responding to an emergency call on rioting at the temple.
Adib is in critical condition with broken ribs, which have affected his breathing, and is on life support.
Amirudin said he was sad and disappointed over the attack on Adib who was dragged out of his emergency response vehicle.
The menteri besar said the state will bear the cost of medical treatment for Adib.
“The state government will pay the medical cost and we hope this reduces the family’s burden.” – November 27, 2018.
