BARISAN Nasional did not woo any Malay-Muslim parliamentarian from Pakatan Harapan after the 14th general election to form government, said former prime minister Najib Razak.
The former Umno president denied that there were efforts from his side to buy PH lawmakers with BN accepting defeat after GE14.
“There were no instructions by Umno to fish for PH parliamentarians. I don’t know if there were any from other parties, but from me, no,” Najib said at the Parliament lobby today.
Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin also rubbished the claims and said BN accepted the defeat and did not try any backdoor method.
The Rembau MP said he was there with top Umno leaders, including current president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also agreed not to buy over any PH lawmaker.
“There were no efforts by Najib, Zahid, Hishammuddin Hussein and Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. There were no efforts to fish or buy any parliamentarian,” Khairy said.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad told Mekong Review that BN approached PH lawmakers to buy them over after May 9.
The 93-year-old blamed PH’s delay to form government on BN’s attempt to lure its lawmakers. – November 21, 2018.
