PROFESSOR Sundra Rajoo was arrested today, two days after his office at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (Malaysia) was raided by authorities.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sources told The Malaysian Insight that it will seek a remand order against the AIAC director today.

“We will seek a remand order today,” said MACC sources.

He was arrested last night at 10.30pm after he turned himself in at the MACC office.

The Malaysian Insight had earlier reported that he was arrested as he was about to leave the country today.

The story has been corrected and TMI regrets the error.

Sundra came into the spotlight after MACC raided his office and questioned several staff on allegations that he allegedly used government funds to obtain favours from past and present ministers to extend his contract as director.

The allegations came in the form of an anonymous letter addressed to MACC and copied to Attorney-General Tommy Thomas, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun, Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, Malaysian Bar president George Varughese and other senior government officials. – November 21, 2018.
