PKR lawmakers who failed to be elected to any posts in the recently-concluded party elections have pledged to continue voicing out in support of justice and transparency.

Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, who was not elected to the central leadership council, said PKR leaders and members must now unite and continue to play an active role in determining the direction of the party.

He said defeated members should not hope to be selected to appointed posts but should continue serving.

“All who lost can still serve. Let’s serve together, not just to receive appointments. I believe we can serve without being appointed, because it’s clear there are many who have fought without holding positions. But if we are elected, it is a responsibility,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

“After this, let there be no more camps. Let there only be one camp, which is the justice camp under the leadership of Anwar Ibrahim,” said the former PKR communications director.

Fuziah Salleh, who contested but lost the women’s wing chief post, said those who were campaigning under defeated deputy president hopeful Rafizi Ramli’s Team Reformasi now make up more than half of the wing’s leadership, including exco members.

She said they would continue to carry out their duties responsibly.

“I am confident they will be the voice of the grassroots. I, too, will continue to be the voice of the people,” said the Kuantan MP, who is also a deputy minister of religious affairs.

Several lawmakers failed to make the cut in the party polls, including Shamsul Iskandar Mat Akin and Johari Abdul for the vice-president positions.

Apart from Fahmi, Wong Chen had also failed to gain a seat in the central leadership council.

“PKR conducts an open system, so we can voice out in Parliament and in social media like Facebook,” he said.

Sociopolitical analyst Awang Azman Awang Pawi said he expects that most of those from Rafizi’s camp would be appointed to decision-making positions as they are seen to be loyalists to Anwar.

The Universiti Malaya lecturer said Johari, Wong and Rafizi are expected to hold high positions.

“We will see several appointments. Those (in Rafizi’s camp) who lost and others seen as loyal supporters of Anwar will be appointed.

“Fahmi is close to Nurul and will be appointed to the central leadership council, Johari is expected to fill the quota for the vice-president.

“Rafizi, I believe, will return to his earlier position as secretary-general, while Wong or William Leong will be appointed as treasurer,” he said. – November 20, 2018.
