AZMIN Ali is ahead of Rafizi Ramli in the race for the PKR deputy president post after claiming victory in the second phase of the party’s election in Sarawak today. 

Unofficial results showed incumbent Azmin taking seven divisions in Sarawak, with a 758-vote majority. 

That puts Azmin’s total votes gathered in Sarawak at 4,020 to Rafizi’s 1,885. 

The seven divisions taken by Azmin are Mambong, Sri Aman, Stampin, Sarikei, Petra Jaya, Santubong, Sibu, Mas Gading and Lubok Antu. 

Rafizi won five divisions – Serian, Kapit, Sibuti, Miri and Limbang.

Unofficial results showed Azmin has garnered 68,843 votes from PKR members nationwide compared with Rafizi’s 63,568 resulting in a 5,275-vote lead for Azmin.

This excludes results from the Malacca and Julau divisions. 

Last night, Azmin won 23 divisions, including Mas Gading, Bandar Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Batang Sadong, Batang Lupar, Lubok Antu, Betong, Saratok, Kanowit and Lanang. 

Vote counting yesterday was, however, suspended due to an alleged cyber attack.

PKR’s central election committee suspended the results in Julau after the e-voting system malfunctioned due to issues with the voting tablets. 

Meanwhile, Rafizi won Negri Sembilan with a wafer thin majority of 15, taking in 2,898 votes after a recount in Jelebu.  

Recounts in Jelebu and Malacca after voting on October 20 resulted in more than 2,000 spoiled votes, mainly due to technical problems. 

Last month, Rafizi won four divisions – Seremban, Rasah, Rembau dan Tampin. Azmin won Teluk Kemang, Kuala Pilah dan Jempol. – November 11, 2018.
