FORMER Felda chairman Mohd Isa Abdul Samad went to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters today, most likely to give a statement on the purchase of hotels by Felda Investment Corporation (FIC).

He was seen arriving with two lawyers at the compound of the commission’s headquarters at 2.40pm, but only Isa entered the office.

FIC is a subsidiary of Felda that engages in non-farming business.

MACC has opened an investigation into FIC’s purchase of a hotel in Kensington, London, between 2013 and 2015 at an inflated price, which resulted in the Felda subsidiary incurring millions of ringgit in losses.

FIC reportedly bought the four-star hotel for £60 million (RM333 million) on December 16, 2014.

It was reported that MACC opened an investigation into FIC’s purchase of a hotel in Kuching after obtaining information during the investigation into the London property purchase. – Bernama, August 15, 2017.
