OFFICERS from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission visited the home of former prime minister Najib Razak this morning, but said they were merely gathering information.
A source from the anti-graft body denied that the officers were there to raid the home, but did not provide additional details on the specific information they were looking for.
“It was not a raid. It was just to gather some information. Nothing more than that,” the source told The Malaysian Insight.
Earlier, MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki told Bernama that the commission sent officers to the Pekan MP’s residence to gather evidence in support of an investigation.
“It is with regards to an investigation, but I have no intention of revealing the details,” he said.
Some five officers were seen at Najib’s residence at about 11am, and left an hour later at about 12pm.
They were not seen carrying anything with them when they left his house.
Meanwhile, the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) confirmed the arrest of ex-Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng Chong Hwa.
CCID director Amar Singh Ishar Singh said he was arrested yesterday but did not divulge more details.
