POLICE have questioned businessman Deepak Jaikishan over his allegation that former prime minister Najib Razak and wife Rosmah Mansor were involved in the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaaribuu.
Inspector-General of Police Fuzi Harun said police will record more statements from other people to complete the reopened investigation of the 2006 murder.
“We have recorded his statement and we will record more statements from those who we believed were involved,” Fuzi said.
A video recently surfaced on social media which appeared to be behind the scenes footage of Deepak sitting down to an interview with a news organisation.
In the purported interview, the businessman made several allegations linking Najib and Rosmah to the murder of the Mongolian model.
It is unclear if the interview was ever aired, but the footage has gone viral on social media.
Altantuya was said to involved in the deal to buy two Scorpene submarines for the Royal Malaysian Navy, while Deepak is a businessman said to have close links to Najb and Rosmah.
Police said in June that they would recall the investigation paper into the murder.
In July, Fuzi said the reopened investigation has been completed and the paper have been handed to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Deepak’s latest allegations appears to have moved police to reopen the case following calls to do so by a lawmaker.
In September, Deepak said he has audio and video proof of lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and Umno lawmaker Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim perverting justice in the suit of private investigator P. Balasubramaniam.
Balasubramaniam had made and then retracted several Statutory Declarations linking Najib to the murder of Altantuya. – November 1, 2018
