Police to look into Justo's ‘forced statements’

AUTHORITIES will look into claims made by former PetroSaudi executive Xavier Justo who said that Malaysian police had forced him to declare that Najib Razak was the “best prime minister”.

Inspector General of Police Fuzi Harun said at a press conference this morning that the police will have to “scrutinise Justo’s claim”.

“We will look into it. He could be referring to the one where police officers met him in Bangkok.

“We will have to scrutinise the claim,” Fuzi said.

Justo said last night that three Malaysian police officers had met him and told the whistleblower to admit that Najib was the best prime minister.

Najib was prime minster from 2009 until 2018, when his then-ruling Barisan Nasional pact lost to Pakatan Harapan in the 14th general election.

Justo named Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Amar Singh as one of the police officers.

Responding to the allegation, Amar Singh said that he had never asked such questions to Justo, as they were “irrelevant” to their investigations.

Justo had said he was “guided” to answer 55 questions, all meant to incriminate himself.

“They had 55 questions, all I had to do was follow what I was told and that’s it,” he told reporters after addressing a conference last night.

The meeting between the police delegation allegedly took place when Justo, who was accused of attempted blackmail by trying to profit off stolen data from Petrosaudi, was jailed in Bangkok late 2015. – November 1, 2018.
