FOREIGN investors are returning to Malaysia as they no longer have to bribe their way to business, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“A lot of investors who refused to invest in Malaysia have now come back.
“They are happy with the treatment from this government where nobody has asked for 30% shares or refused to approve applications because they refused to bribe the officers,” the prime minister told reporters on the sidelines of the 2018 Anti-Corruption Summit in Kuala Lumpur today.
There have been fewer reports of corruption since the new government took over, he said.
“There have been no reports on that. If anybody knows about incidents of corruption, do tell us. We will protect and take action against the corrupt officers.”
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir laughed off suggestions that Bersatu had enticed Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamad financially to join the party.
“But we have not given money and we have stipulated the conditions for joining Bersatu are to leave Umno and become independent for a period of time and then apply to join us.
“It’s not going to be easy. For example, Mustapa Mohamad became an independent for some time before his application was approved.” – October 30, 2018.
