AFTER putting his party post on the line, Parti Warisan Sabah deputy president Darell Leiking again hit back at those alleging the party was giving out MyKads to illegal immigrants.
Leiking, who appeared visibly angry by the allegation today, said those bent on attacking his party in such fashion were those from political circles that had lost in the May 9 polls.
He said he had on numerous occasions denied Warisan had ever issued MyKads to immigrants and that the party was trying hard to resolve the illegal migrant problem the state has faced for decades.
“Sabahans will longer no be influenced by racial and religious rhetoric they are still harping on,” he said today.
Leiking was referring to the “divide and rule” tactics employ by the previous administration in which the race and religion card was frequently used.
He said this tactic was the same one used by the KadazanDusun Murut (KDMs) ethnic groups to divide their own people.
“If the same tactic were used on the Bajaus, they would not be troubled by this. The same goes with other races, except the KDMs.
“The KDMs have attacked us (Warisan), labelling us as Parti Suluk or Parti Lanun to irritate us,” he said.
Last week, Leiking said he would resign from Warisan if anyone could provide evidence that his party had issued MyKads to illegal migrants.
He also promised to give those with the evidence first-class treatment to lodge their police report.
Leiking today said the offer still stands. – October 28, 2018.
