SIX PKR polls candidates are calling for fresh elections following the numerous complaints received throughout the process, reported The Star.

They said polling in Alor Gajah, Jasin and Tangga Batu, all in Malacca, on October 20 was “compromised”, but asked that the Kota Melaka and Bukit Katil results be retained.

The party’s central election committee (JPP) previously said there will not be fresh elections.

JPP’s complaints, appeals and discipline committee, headed by Dr Syed Husin Ali, is responsible for handling complaints on appeals and disciplinary matters.

On Wednesday, it was slammed by PKR members over a statement posted on the party’s blog regarding three candidates who had been issued warning letters.

Dr Syed Husin, clarifying the matter, said there had been a miscommunication, as the letters should have been given to the trio before the statement was issued.

“I did not know it had already been uploaded when they called me to ask about the warning letters, which I have not yet signed.

“The candidates (who are accused of flouting election rules) should get their letters today or tomorrow.”

Those unhappy with the polls results should make complaints via the proper channels instead of going to the media, he said.

He added that the party’s e-voting process has gotten a good response from the ground.

It was reported that IT experts confirmed that cloud storage failure due to poor internet access had caused 2,000 votes to go “missing” in the party polls held in Malacca and Negri Sembilan.

The announcement was made by JPP chairman Rashid Din, who criticised those who had implied that his committee was hiding and manipulating polls data.

Reports have said six PKR divisions in Malacca are missing 1,700 votes, and a Negri Sembilan division is missing 300 votes. – October 26, 2018.
