THE Public Accounts Committee has not dismissed the possibility of recalling former finance minister Najib Razak to give his statements over RM19.4 billion worth of “missing” goods and services tax refunds under the previous administration.

Committee chairman Ronald Kiandee said Najib, who is also the former prime minister, had appeared before the PAC for an hour today to give his statements pertaining to the flow of federal funds and GST collections and refunds.

“Today, we cannot say for sure (if we will recall). We will look back to see if there is a need to recall.

“If we need (to recall Najib), we may call him back,” Kiandee told reporters at the Parliament lobby after chairing the PAC meeting.

He said questions put forth to the Pekan member of parliament were based on the committee’s terms of reference.

“All of these have been included into our report, which we will present in Parliament once we close proceedings.

“As of now, I think the information and testimonies we have are complete,” he said.

Kiandee said the PAC will be calling Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng as its next witness in the GST refund probe.

The committee said yesterday that it expects to wrap up its investigations into the missing funds before the ongoing parliamentary session ends on December 11. – October 24, 2018.
