FORMER prime minister Najib Razak arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya this afternoon, where he is expected to be questioned further on the scandal-ridden 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Najib and his trusted lieutenant, Irwan Serigar Abdullah, who was the former Treasury secretary-general, were yesterday summoned by the anti-graft body to its headquarters this afternoon.
Sources told The Malaysian Insight that the two would be jointly charged tomorrow with diverting billions of ringgit from the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BRIM) programme and consolidated funds to cover the gaping financial hole left by 1MDB’s debts.
Irwan arrived at the MACC headquarters two hours later.
Reporters and photographers were caught off guard as he arrived alone in a black Perodua Myvi.
Both men walked into the MACC headquarters without speaking to the waiting crowd of journalists.
A MACC source said there is a possibility that the anti-graft body will detain Irwan before he is brought to court tomorrow to face charges.

Najib has been charged with 32 counts of corruption, money laundering and abuse of power in relation to money the authorities said came from 1MDB.
It is learnt that Najib will be brought to court tomorrow to face another six charges.
He will, however, be released today, but will have to be present at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex tomorrow.
Najib was summoned twice last week to explain the payment of more than US$1.2 billioin (RM5.04 billion) made to Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) as settlement of a US$6.5 billion claim. – October 24, 2018.
