THE Malaysian police have welcomed the offer by Hishammuddin Hussein to help bring back fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, who is reported to be in China, to bring closure to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue.

Inspector-General of Police Fuzi Harun said the assistance offered by the former defence minister is based on his connections with foreign leaders when he was in the government.

“I am not sure of the motive (by Hishammuddin) , but (his efforts to track down Jho Low) is based on the contacts that he has… if it can help us (police), we welcome it,” he told reporters at the Bukit Aman today.

He said the police are continuously making efforts to track down Jho Low and his father, Low Hock Peng, including seeking the assistance of Interpol.

On Monday, Hishammuddin was reported to have said that he would use his personal connections with Chinese leaders to help to track down and bring back Jho Low.

In another development, Fuzi said the police are still investigating the seizure of jewellery said to be linked to the IMDB case.

“The police are gathering information from all quarters. Quarters who say they have rights over the jewellery should provide proof,’ he added. – Bernama, October 24, 2018.
