FORMER international trade minister Mustapa Mohamed will not resign as an MP and has not decided to join another party.
“I will not resign and will continue my duties as a lawmaker,” said the Jeli MP in Parliament today.
He told Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, who asked if he was joining Pakatan Harapan, that he was still undecided.
“I haven’t decided yet,” said the former Umno Supreme Council member.
Mustapha was debating the 11th Malaysia Plan Mid Term Review today.
At the Umno general assembly, last month, party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said the party had started legal proceedings against the Umno lawmakers who have resigned the party after GE14.
Mustapa resigned from Umno on September 18 citing loss of confidence in the party leadership after senior party leaders attended the PAS annual congress in Kuala Terengganu. Mustapa is also the Air Lanas assemblyman in Kelantan.
Mustapa is among five MPs and 13 assemblyman who have quit the party since GE14. – October 21, 2018.
