A GROUP of MyPPP leaders wants the authorities to investigate claims by M. Kayveas that RM36 million was given to the party this year.
Loga Bala Mohan, the spokesman for the faction rivalling Kayveas’, said party members and the public have the right to know where the funds were diverted to, and how they were utilised.
“We urge him (Kayveas) to reveal the names of the six recipients, and the amount they allegedly received.
“We, the exco members of MyPPP, have not seen, heard or received the amount, as claimed by Kayveas, and (we do not know) how much was received over the years for him to arrive at that figure,” he said at the Kuala Lumpur Hyatt Hotel today.
Kayveas, who claims he is the rightful MyPPP president, is under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over 1Malaysia Development Bhd funds that were allegedly moved from Umno to the party.
It was reported that Kayveas said he had given to MACC officers the names of the six people who allege collected the money.
The MyPPP leadership is in dispute, with two factions vying for control of the party.
Loga said his faction has lodged nine reports with police and MACC.
“We want the authorities to investigate the source of the funds, as we believe it is a desperate attempt by Kayveas to divert (attention from) his MACC investigation.”
Another spokesman, Simon Sabapathy, said he was contacted by an MACC officer yesterday, asking about documents related to Kayveas’ claim.
He said the graft-busters are looking at funds that were allegedly transferred from Umno to MyPPP during Kayveas’ time.
“I told the officer that if there are any documents, they would be either at the party headquarters, with his personal assistant or in a storage unit in Subang, where Kayveas’ personal belongings have been kept since he was evicted.”
Former acting president Maglin D’Cruz said he, too, received a call from MACC yesterday, asking about the documents.
“They said they want to go to the storage unit, and asked if we could assist.
“We will give them the contact (details) of the storage unit’s keepers.” – October 19, 2018.
