KAPAR MP Abdullah Sani, who has gained notoriety for repeatedly attacking Azmin Ali in the ongoing PKR elections, has lost his bid to head the Kapar branch, winning only 626 votes.
The new Kapar branch chief is Sementa assemblyman Daroyah Alwi, who won 1,678 votes in a five-cornered fight. She is also running for the national-level Wanita deputy chief post.
Abdullah, who is also contesting a seat in the central leadership council, is currently in 15th place.
He was previously ticked off by PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim and subsequently apologised to Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad for claiming the prime minister was involved in a plot to prevent Anwar from succeeding him.
Abdullah, who is in Rafizi Ramli’s camp, had also attacked Azmin, accusing him of being part of the plot with the backing of former Council of Eminent Persons chairman Daim Zainuddin.
Rafizi and Azmin are fighting for the PKR deputy president’s post, which the latter is defending.
The Kapar branch supported Rafizi for deputy president with 1,980 votes, while Azmin won 1,505. – October 15, 2018.
