THE Inland Revenue Board (IRB) raided the office of Mokhzani Mahathir, son of Pakatan Harapan chairman and former prime minster Dr Mahathir Mohamad, yesterday.

According to a source, the IRB raid occurred last night at Kencana Capital Sdn Bhd.

“I understand that the IRB raided the son’s office last night,” he said.

The Malaysian Insight has contacted Mokhzani and IRB.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Aziz urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to probe into the source of wealth of the Mahathir clan.

The move follows Dr Mahathir’s accusation that Zahid had RM230 million in his bank accounts in the 1990s while the latter served as the Umno Youth chief.

Dr Mahathir has claimed that his friends and family members are being targeted by the IRB since his fallout with and attempts to oust Prime Minister Najib Razak.

As an example, the IRB seized Country Heights founder Lee Kim Yew’s fixed deposits amounting to RM126 million held in a foreign-owned bank.

Mokhzani is listed as the one of the top 50 richest Malaysians on Forbes with an estimated wealth of RM1.8 billion. – August 9, 2017.
