PAKATAN Harapan candidate for the Port Dickson by-election Anwar Ibrahim said he hoped the free online free tuition programme mooted by him could be expanded to the whole country in the future.

He said the programme was currently part of an initiative he offered in his by-election campaign for Standard 1 up to Form 5 pupils in Port Dickson schools.

“It would be a major loss if the programme was not used in the best possible way by parents and teachers but I cannot do anything because I am not the minister, but I call on parents to encourage their children to continue to study.

“If I were to get the mandate later as MP for this area, I will ask the District Education Office to evaluate the effectiveness of the programme in November and study ways to improve it,” he said at the event to launch the programme today.

Anwar said programme, which could be accessed through pdtuition.com, offered tools for all subjects taught at in national and national-type schools.

Anwar, who is also PKR president-elect, however, said the effectiveness of the programme, which was also run in collaboration with private companies and individuals from civil society bodies, depended highly on the awareness of teachers and parents.

Anwar faces a seven-cornered fight in the Port Dickson by-election to be held on October 13.
