SYRIAN national Hassan Al Kontar, who has been remanded for 14 days for living in Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2), will be deported to his home country soon.
Deputy Home Minister Mohd Azis Jamman said the move had to be taken after Hassan rejected offers to live in several Asean countries willing to accept him as he only wanted to live in Canada, which had stipulated that he could only enter the country two years from now.
“Malaysia cannot allow him to live in klia2 for 24 months. So, I hope Hassan will change his mind and stay in any country that accepts him while waiting to migrate to Canada,” he said at the National Registration Department in Putrajaya today.
Hassan, 36, was detained by police on Monday after being found in prohibited areas at klia2 and was remanded for two weeks.
Immigration director-general Mustafar Ali, in announcing Hassan’s detention on Tuesday, said the Syrian national had also issued several statements to embarrass Malaysia via social media since entering Malaysia on March 7.
He also refused to return to Syria for fear of being forced to become a soldier. – Bernama, October 4, 2018.
