MALAYSIANS must get ready for foreign investments that the Pakatan Harapan government is working to bring to the country, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.

Malaysians must work hard to show foreign investors that the country was recovering and on its way to becoming an Asian Tiger again, he said.

“I beg Malaysians to prepare themselves and not disappoint those who will come to help the country by investing in it.

“We will work hard and produce quality products.

“Show the world that we have recovered and we will develop the country to become Harimau Asia again,” he told reporters at the Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Subang on arrival after working trips to the US and UK.

The prime minister was in New York to lead a Malaysian delegation to the 73rd session of the United Nations general assembly from Tuesday until Saturday before flying to London for the second leg of his UK visit.

His first leg of UK visit was from September 21-25 where he gave a talk at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and visited Imperial College London.

Hundreds of supporters met the prime minister. Other ministers present included Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu and his deputy, Liew Chin Tong.

Besides giving a speech at the UN, he also had a meeting with investors and American media to explain Pakatan Harapan’s policy.

Many foreign investors were impressed with the talks and promised to invest here, he said.

“I said what is prioritised by the PH government is to provide as many job opportunities for Malaysians at all levels and they admitted that they will have businesses that would need trained officers, engineers and employees to ensure they can produce high quality products,” said Dr Mahathir.

In London, the British government promised to give a briefing regarding ways to fight corruption.

Dr Mahathir was also briefed on the future direction of Group Lotus, which produces high-end sports and racing cars, in a closed-door session.

The briefing was given by Lotus CEO Feng Qingfeng, who is also vice-president and chief technology officer of Geely Auto Group.
