ABDUL Hadi Awang last night branded Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Port Dickson by-election, Anwar Ibrahim, as an opportunist and an actor.
The PAS president also said Anwar is inconsistent and can not be trusted.
“In Islam there is a way to choose a leader. It cannot be given to someone who is an opportunist.
“As a Muslim, one has to be consistent. This person can act with everyone,” Hadi told about 200 PAS supporters.
Hadi also taunted Anwar by saying the PKR leader was not brave to contest in a Malay-majority seat.
“He chose a seat where 60% of the voters is non-Muslim. Why not contest in a Muslim majority seat?” Hadi asked.

Anwar, who is PKR president-elect, is contesting in the Port Dickson by-election in a seven-cornered fight to get him into Parliament.
The Port Dickson parliamentary seat has 75,212 registered voters, comprising Malays (43%), Chinese (33%) and Indians (22%).
Hadi then said that Anwar was only “riding” on Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration after he was pardoned by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to rejoin politics.
“Our prime minister candidate was someone who served under Dr Mahathir, someone who rides with Dr Mahathir.
Meanwhile, Hadi said PAS will be on its own in the by-election.
He said there will be no cooperation between the Islamist party and Umno as in the past two by-elections in Sg Kandis and Seri Setia.

“We accept whoever who wants to support us. (But) we are by ourselves when Umno is not contesting. Meaning we have no cooperation with them,” Hadi said.
The by-election is triggered by the resignation of incumbent MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah on September 12.
Danyal, 68, of PKR, vacated the seat to pave the way for Anwar to make a comeback to Parliament.
Barisan Nasional has decided to boycott the by-election on the grounds that the seat was vacated to fulfil Anwar’s political ambitions.
Polling is on October 13; early voting is on October 9.
In the May 9 general election, Danyal won the seat by 17,710 votes, defeating Barisan Nasional candidate V.S. Mogan and Mahfuz Roslan of PAS. – October 1, 2018.
