7 hours later, Rosmah still at MACC

AFTER seven hours, Rosmah Mansor continues to be questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as rumours swirled that the former prime minister’s wife will spend the night at the anti-graft headquarters.

The 66-year-old wife of Najib Razak arrived at 9.50am dressed in green and was accompanied by her lawyer, K. Kumaraendran.

The lawyers left about 4.15pm for a break and had yet to return to the MACC building in Putrajaya.

MACC officials remained tight-lipped over what the Pekan MP’s wife was being queried on or whether she would be detained overnight.

This is the second round of questioning Rosmah has faced. On June 5, she was questioned by the MACC for five hours in relation to SRC International funds channelled to Najib’s account. Only Najib has been charged in relation to the probe into SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

On Monday, the MACC said it had completed its investigation into Rosmah and submitted papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers to decide on any charges to be brought. 

None of Rosmah’s family members accompanied her today.

However, Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam and former Bersatu founder Anina Saddudin appeared later.

She is also being sued for RM60 million over 44 pieces of unreturned jewellery by Global Royalty Trading SAL, which is owned by Lebanese jeweller Samer Halimeh.

The jewellery were seized during police raids at premises linked to Najib in May and are part of a total haul of items worth more than RM1 billion. – September 26, 2018.
