GOD is testing Pakatan Harapan (PH) with power to see if its leaders will use it to do good or cause damage, said Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin, who is home minister, said PH must use its mandate to govern responsibly.

“I believe we will use the power for good. If we consider the power as a gift that gives us the opportunity to use it for personal gain, then eventually that power will destroy us and the party,” he said in a recorded video during Bersatu’s second anniversary celebration at the Melawati Stadium in Shah Alam.

Muhyiddin said members should learn from what had happened to Barisan Nasional in the 14th general election.

“They were once powerful, but because of the damage they had done and the abuse of power, they lost everything.

“They had let their bad values and culture seep into their party until they were rejected by the people,” he said.

More than 5,000 members turned up to celebrate the party’s anniversary, which started at 8pm.

Muhyiddin said Bersatu, being new, could instil a good work culture right from the start.

“We must have strong discipline and adhere to the constitution and party ethics.

“We must not deviate or the party will fall into chaos.”

Muhyiddin said party members must be loyal to their leaders and the people.

“As the ruling party, we carry the hopes of the people, who expect us to fulfil our promises to them.

“To fulfil our promises to the people, our party members must hold a position in government, at the  federal, state or local council level.

“The people are watching and judging us. So we must show them that we are capable of governing the country well.” – September 8, 2018.

  • Don't fall into, or spread the believe that man can be the protector of God's religion. That was the cause of the downfall of the previous regime.

  • Pakatoon politicians must continue to reach out to the rural areas to share their vision for the country's prosperity, as Anwar had in mind after GE13 in 2013..
