PAKATAN Harapan candidate Halimey Abu Bakar said PAS members in the Seri Setia state seat have assured him of their votes in the September 8 by-election.

Halimey said this was because the PAS members knew his father, who had a brief stint in PAS.

“My father was once with PAS. PAS members have called me and told me to not worry. They said ‘we may work with PAS but we will vote for you”,” he said, at a meeting with voters in Petaling Jaya, yesterday.

Halimey said he also has the support of Umno members in Seri Setia.

He said his father was also once Umno division chief while his mother was Wanita Umno division chief. Therefore, he said the older generation know his parents and have told him him they will vote for him.

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, who was present, said Halimey is able to be the voice of the people in Seri Setia as he has experience as the Petaling Jaya councillor.

He said despite the criticism of PH after its first 100 days,  the new administration has made progress.

He added the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) administration had failed to correctly govern the country despite being in power for 60 years.

“Many people made noise about 100 days but we gave them (BN) 60 years yet they still failed to govern the country and caused a massive debt of RM1 trillion.

“But it’s been only 100 days and they (BN) are criticising us. Why? Because they feel threatened as the people today are with us; because we are able to administer greatly and responsibly,” he said.

Halimey is in a straight fight against PAS’ Dr Halimah Ali in the Seri Setia by-election. –  September 2, 2018.
