PAS is working hard to ensure that the people not only achieve happiness on earth but also in the afterlife (akhirat), said its candidate for the Seri Setia by-election, Dr Halimah Ali.

Halimah said she will make sure the people’s voice are heard by the state government if she were elected, she said at a dialogue in Lembah Subang yesterday.

“We from PAS are working hard to ensure not only success, happiness and peace on earth but in the afterlife as well,” she said last night.

The hour-long dialogue was held at a food stall in PPR Lembah Subang and drew about 30 people.

The residents appeared shy about highlighting their problems but cheered Halimah.

The medical doctor criticised the state’s Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat (IPR) as not holistic enough to benefit everyone who needs it.

“IPR is good. I like it as the government should help the people.

“But I have visited many places in the area and found out many did not get the help. Those who can’t pay for medicines, those who can’t pay their bills, they don’t get the IPR card.”

As an opposition assemblyman, she said no one will get sidelined if PAS wins.

The Pakatan Harapan government made many promises but could not fulfil them despite being in power for more than 10 years in the state, she said.

The Seri Setia seat fell vacant following the death of its incumbent, Prof Shaharuddin Badaruddin, from cancer on August 2.

The seat was previously held by PKR’s Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad for the last two terms.

Halimah added that an opposition voice is still needed despite the state legislative assembly.

There are currently five opposition representatives in the Selangor assembly, four from Barisan Nasional and one from PAS. – August 29, 2018.

  • As is, PAS had failed to better the lives of Kelantanese much less earth, flood damage remains a recurring disaster...deforestation, encroachment of Orang Asli settlements....now they claim to be able to guarantee afterlife outcomes?! Hilarious, if it wasnt so tragic. Is PAS not going against the very religion it claims to promote? Islam abhors religious compulsion, encourages critical thinking, and reminds its mortal believers (which includes imams, tok gurus and politicians) not to judge their fellow mortals, no? What audacity to lay claim to things which are between the believer and god. The Pharoahs of Egypt had the same playbook, claiming to be the divine link to Ra the Sun God...now extinct.
