Armed forces men working for me on ‘temporary’ basis, says Hishammuddin

THE three Armed Forces personnel currently serving Hishammuddin Hussein are doing so on a temporary basis, the former defence minister said.

Taking to Twitter this evening, Hishammuddin said they had been protecting his family from the day he became defence minister in 2013 and he has now offered them permanent employment.

“They are so close to my family and I, having served us for so many years. They are only with me for a temporary period,” Hishammuddin responded in a tweet tonight.

News portal Malaysiakini, quoting sources, had reported that two Navy special operation forces (Paskal) personnel and a commando were receiving double pay as they were still working for Hishammuddin.

Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu has ordered an immediate investigation into those claims. 

Hishammuddin said he had offered all three men full-time positions.

“I have offered them employment, but if they accept they must resign from the Armed Forces with immediate effect,” he said.

The two Paskal officers are on active duty and are supposed to serve until 2020 and 2021 respectively. – August 25, 2018.
