POLICE will submit investigation papers on former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman’s alleged criminal intimidation to the public prosecutor on Monday.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said Musa was arrested yesterday and is currently out on police bail as the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court did not grant a remand order.
“Investigation papers will be submitted to the office of the deputy public prosecutor on August 27, 2018,” Fuzi said in a statement.
It is understood that police completed recording Musa’s statement around noon today.
He has been warded in a private hospital in Subang Jaya since returning to Malaysia on Monday.
His VVIP suite is being guarded by hospital security.
Musa, through his lawyers, has been claiming ill health and medical treatment as the reason for not returning to Sabah sooner after being sought by police for allegedly intimidating the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin over his hasty swearing-in as chief minister a day after the May 9 general election.
He is also wanted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly bribing assemblymen to ensure a win for Barisan Nasional in Sabah during the elections.
He has until September 11 to take his oath as Sibuga assemblyman or will be forced to vacate his seat and trigger a by-election.
The Sabah state assembly Speaker is on standby for Musa to be sworn in this afternoon but it is still unclear if the ceremony will take place. – August 24, 2018.
