PERKASA president Ibrahim Ali announced the formation of a new Malay Bumiputera party – Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) – in Kuala Lumpur today as an alternative to existing political parties that no longer defend religion and race.

“Many Malaysians, especially the Malays and Bumiputeras, are in disarray. PAS, although it has 18 MPs, is in an awkward situation (hidup began mati tidak mahu). Their approach is getting nowhere.

“Umno is struggling with internal issues… There are parties that are clearly uncomfortable with Islam and Bumiputera related matters. So we decided to form a new party as an alternative,” he said at a press conference at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman.

The former Pasir Mas MP denied that the new party will further split the Malay vote, saying it was already split 20 years ago with the setting up of PKR after the sacking of former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim.

He said Amanah was also a splinter party of PAS while Dr Mahathir Mohamad had also quit Umno and set up Bersatu because he was dissatisfied with former Umno president Najib Razak.

“The splits have already happened, but more due to certain issues and not due to the political parties.

“For you (Malays), we want to provide an alternative, a party for the people with a clean leadership, not rhetorical, not hypocritical, with the hope that they join us and the Malays can united in this party,” he said.

The party’s legal advisor and information chief Khairul Azam Abd Aziz had sent an online application to set up the party to the Registrar of Societies on Monday and had submitted the paper documents yesterday.

Ibrahim hopes the prime minister and Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin can approve the set up of the party because Putra does not intend to make enemies of anyone. – August 17, 2018.

  • Putra ke puteri ke, putar ke pulit ke, hanya satu mimpian . As long as it is Ibrahim Ali and somemore extreme racial in outlook will doom to fail. In those days Perkasa has Mahatir but now the old man is no more nobody. After seeing so much of support heaping on him the old man can't afford to be seen with all ex-Umno Bangangs trying to revive for self interest. Ibrahim Ali get some living while you can.
